How Many People Are Searching For This Product? By : Kirt Christensen

Nothing can be more aggravating than to create a website then have to wait for people to "stumble" upon it. It is about as fun as watching your clothes dry. This is the reason why managing your Pay-per-click is a fundamental aspect of the online world. With Google, you can have a campaign started and sending prospective customers to your site in less than ten minutes. It can happen that fast. It is simply amazing how quickly you can begin new things and make changes in old with Google's systemsSpeed could also be a problem. "Haste makes waste" is an applicable statement here.Running through money like it's water is real easy with PPC management - choose a keyword, put up an ad, and get a load of traffic that costs you money but none of it is likely to buy your product. Here is the question to ask that will help ensure that you don't spend money on the wrong traffic for your site. Ask yourself:How Many People Are Searching For This Product? The answer to this question will help you be realistic with what you expect. It may also help you keep disappointment at bay if you find out later on that Google can't get the new customers you were hoping for. Should that happen, the chances are that you will find other less well-known traffic sources that are just as profitable but the competition is not as stiff. In just a few seconds you can have a good idea of the traffic. Look up the useful search term selection tool at http://inventory.overture.com (or http://inven tory.uk.overture.com for the UK). Put in a few of your main keywords and overture will show you the number of searches its serves over the last month for each of the terms. For example, you have a company that sells a skin-care product designed to slow the aging process. Let's imagine you've just started and want to bring more folks to your web site through Google. Where do you start? To start with, get a starting list of potential keywords. Here is what we brainstormed:skinbeautyacnecosmeticsmakeupcosmetic surgerydermatologyanti-agingwrinklesoilsmoisturizersThis list is only the beginning. If I take it over to the keyword-selection-tool on Overture and put them in, I can see how many searchers they had in the past month. These are the results:skin 7,290beauty 5,006acne 1,872cosmetics 1,862makeup 1,796cosmetic surgery 1,736dermatology 622anti-aging 503wrinkles 485oils 390moisturizers 120Notice what's going on here:The keyword "skin" got over 60 times as many searches as the bottom term, "moisturizers." That term may be one of your most valuable players.Along with the useful terms you get when you use Overture, you will undoubtedly get some terms that will lack relevance. You will want to use those terms as negative keywords. There are a huge number of people who may want skin-care products but who'll use different word combinations than are on the lists we've come up with. So for a successful PPC management, we'll need to brainstorm for more, and then search Overture's tool again. The results from Overture indicate that we could get ten or even an hundred thousand US searches in one month using the top keywords we found.
